How we comply
Last updated 28 July 2026
The law we build to
- Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth). Governs which numbers may be called.
- Telecommunications (Telemarketing and Research Calls) Industry Standard 2017. Governs how calls must be made: identification, hours, caller ID, opt-outs.
- Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Govern the handling of personal information.
- Australian Consumer Law. Governs what may be said.
The regulator is the Australian Communications and Media Authority.
What the platform does on every call
Every number is washed against the Do Not Call Register
No number becomes callable until it has been checked against the register and returned as not registered. There is no override, no admin exception and no trusted-list bypass. Every dial attempt, permitted or refused, is evaluated immediately before that one call and writes an append-only decision record first. If the check cannot be completed, the number is not called. How washing works.
A wash lasts 30 days, and expiry blocks the number
The register changes daily, so a check has a 30 day life. When a wash reaches the end of it, the number stops being callable automatically and nothing dials it again until it has been checked afresh. We do not keep calling on a stale result and we do not quietly extend one.
The agent identifies itself
Every call opens by stating who the call is being made for and that the caller is an AI assistant. That line is assembled into the prompt by the platform, not typed into a script field, so it cannot be removed, reworded or delayed. Agents can change everything after it and nothing before it. Industry Standard.
Calls happen only within permitted hours
Weekdays 9am to 8pm, Saturdays 9am to 5pm, never Sundays and never national public holidays. Hours are calculated in the called person's local time, not yours, which matters because Australia spans three time zones and only some states observe daylight saving. Where the platform cannot tell which state a number is in, and most mobiles give away nothing, it takes the narrow window that every possible zone permits at once. This is enforced in the dial path and cannot be turned off.
One call on this site is outside that window by design, and it is the only one: the demo on the home page, which rings the number typed into the form on the screen you are looking at, at the moment you press the button. That is a call you asked us to make to you, not an approach to somebody on a list, so it runs at any hour. Every call your agent places to a homeowner keeps the hours above, whatever time you set it up.
The caller ID is real and returnable
Calls present +61 482 097 814, a working Australian number that receives calls back. Numbers stay reachable for at least 30 days after the last call made on them, and release after that is a deliberate manual step rather than an automatic one, because retiring a number someone is still ringing back cannot be undone. Register legislation.
Opt-outs are instant, permanent and platform wide
If someone asks not to be called, the agent stops, the call ends, and the number is suppressed. Suppression applies across every campaign and every account on the platform, not just the agency that happened to call them, and it cannot be reversed or deleted. The database refuses the deletion outright. Anyone can also remove their own number from our opt-out page without being called first.
Every call is recorded, transcribed and logged
Along with the wash record for that number, the gate decision that permitted the call, and the outcome. Calls are capped at 4 minutes. That record is your evidence and ours.
What stays yours
We handle the machinery. Three things remain your responsibility, and we cannot do them for you.
- Your list. You must have obtained the numbers lawfully and have a genuine reason to contact those people.
- Consent, where you rely on it. Numbers on the register can only be called where you hold valid, current consent with evidence. Consent expires. Under the Act, express consent given without a stated period is treated as expiring after three months. The platform records consent one number at a time with its own evidence, and refuses to apply it in bulk.
- What your agent says. You configure the script. It must be accurate and not misleading. Australian Consumer Law applies to what your AI says exactly as it applies to what you say.
The rules, without us in them
This page describes what our platform enforces. If what you want is the law itself, we wrote it up separately: is cold calling legal for real estate agents in Australia covers the four conditions, the calling hours and where agents get caught, with everything linked to the instrument it comes from.
If a ListingLine agent called you
You can be removed permanently, ask what we hold, or make a complaint. See our opt-out page, call +61 482 097 814, or email info@listingline.com.au.
An honest note
Everything on this page describes a control the platform actually enforces, and we keep the records to prove it. Several of them fail closed on purpose: when the platform cannot confirm a number is safe to call, it does not call it.
This page is not legal advice. It describes our build against the legislation named above, and agents remain responsible for how they use the service.
